The IELTS exam is an English proficiency test that measures an individual’s ability to understand English. The IELTS exam evaluates proficiency in the four sections, mainly the writing, reading, listening, and speaking sections. Moreover, a favourable result in the IELTS test is important as it will be considered for admission to the top universities. The exam is divided into 4 different sections. Under the speaking section of the examination, you will be required to speak for a few minutes. There will be cue cards, which can be on a random topic. I have achieved a lot of things in my life, such as being a topper during my 12th class and entrance exams. Here I will discuss a time when my parents were proud of me.

when you did it

I made my parents proud of me when I completed my education and started working in a company. They always wanted me to do a job and my father, a businessman, wanted me to achieve something in life rather than engage in the family business. 

why do you feel proud of what you have done?

I feel happy because my parents are happy to see my potential and what I can truly achieve. They always wanted me to do well, and now they’re proud of what I’ve done. This moment feels really good, and I want to say thanks to myself for working hard and making my parents proud.

Driving: Describe something you did that made you feel proud

I was trying to learn driving skills. I was never confident enough to learn a new skill of driving. I tried my best to learn new skills and when I learnt, I felt proud of myself.

when you did it

I started learning to drive when I completed my 12th-grade education. My mother has helped me and motivated me to go towards learning new skills. She just made all the arrangements so that I could go and learn new skills that would be beneficial in the future.

why do you feel proud of what you have done?

I felt proud of myself because I had learned one new skill that I had never thought of learning. Being an introverted individual, I never thought of asking my doubts and learning this new skill.

Competitive Exam: Describe something you did that made you feel proud

I have motivated one of my close friends, who always has been in trouble. My friend has been preparing for competitive exams like she has lost all her hopes and confidence to appear for the exam. Then I motivated her to go for her exam.

when you did it

I did it during her competitive exam time, there was a moment when she decided not to go for her exam. With my motivation and support, she helped to appear for the exam.

why do you feel proud of what you have done?

I felt proud when I realized that she had passed the exams with really good marks. This moment made me proud of myself as she was not appearing for the exam and with my motivation and support, she appeared and scored well.

Yes, learning driving skills is a new thing and I’ve always wanted to learn this skill. The situation was not in my favour but ultimately, I succeeded. 

Is there anything that you want to do or achieve in life?

Yes, I want to achieve so many things in my life. I always wanted to be the one who can help and support others to achieve their goals. One thing that I really want to achieve is to overcome my fear of swimming. 

How did you make your parents feel proud?

They wanted to see me as a successful individual in my life. My parents were really happy to see me conquer my dreams and work in a Big 4 company. 

What do you think, feeling proud makes you egoistic.

I don’t think feeling proud makes you an egoistic person, if you always tend to be more focused on your achieved things then it makes you an egoistic person.
