Describe A Family Member Who Made You Proud

The recollection of my sister winning the title of best singer of the year at her college in front of a huge audience still gives me goosebumps. Considering how proud I felt of her at the time. Module 1: Describe A Family Member Who Made You Proud

Who is the person?

The person who fills me with pride is my sister. It is praiseworthy how much sacrifice she had to make to give to her music and study side by side. I’ve witnessed her being passionate and dedicated to achieving her goals and pursuing her true passion.

What was your experience like?

Even though there were a lot of good singers out there and the competition was high and for a second I thought that she might not win, she disproved my assumption and showed that perseverance, hard work, and dedication can always outweigh natural talent. I’m honoured to be her brother and am motivated to aspire to be like her through some of her ideas.

What are some learning lessons from this experience?

I remember my sister trying to pursue her career in singing and having to deal with setbacks in the form of insults from our relatives as no one really cared about her talent. I am also quite pleased with the progress she has made as a singer. Her story, in my opinion, is strikingly similar to that of another Indian girl who has the courage to dream big and think differently. I think she’s a winner because she not only established a name for herself but also opened doors for a lot of other female students like her who want to follow their goals.

How did the situation make you feel?

To put it simply, I was ecstatic to see my sister win the Best Singer award in front of the entire college audience. Her path to receiving the award keeps motivating me to set lofty goals and put in a lot of effort to achieve them.

Module 2: Describe A Family Member Who Made You Proud

Introduction

When a family member accomplishes a significant goal, finishes a task, or assumes a constructive position, everyone in the family has to feel incredibly proud of them. I want to share with you a moment when my brother made me feel incredibly proud.

Who is the person?
My elder brother is there for me no matter what, therefore I constantly run to him when I’m feeling down or queasy. For me, my brother serves as both a mentor and best friend.

How close you are?
Although he is technically my cousin, our upbringing under one roof has shaped our relationship to the point where it feels more like that of true brother and sister than it does like that of closest friends. As previously mentioned, I used to recount every single event from my early years. Although the scene is still the same now, it is certainly occurring less frequently.

What he did that made you proud?
I was young when we used to live together as a joint family, too young to comprehend what was going on in someone else’s life. That’s when I realized that my brother was going through a difficult period in his life. I could sense that he was under a lot of pressure to achieve well academically. I watched him yell at his parents and cry uncontrollably. I used to keep my observations and my relationship with my brother apart. But as I grew older, I witnessed his entire journey. He works for a well-known corporation right now. His handling of the stress and fallout from his frustrations had previously alarmed me. But now that he has proven all the unfavourable assessments and opinions to be false, I am proud of him.

Explain why they made you proud.
This was, I believe, his personal path. He’s been successful as a brother, a student, and a son. His original intention was not to make me feel proud. That being said, I’m positive he knew I was nearby while he received criticism and judgment from everyone.

What are some learning opportunities from this situation?

All in all, it is because of my brother that I find motivation to try harder even in the toughest of times. Even though studying is a chore for me, it motivates me to know that, in the end, all of my hard work pays off, and I can strive to become like my brother.

Module 3: Describe A Family Member Who Made You Proud

Who is the family member that has made you proud?

While my family has always extended unabashed support towards me, it is my Father who inspires me the most. His resilience, patience, and honesty are major reasons behind my success today.

Why does he make you proud?

Even though my father is now 52 years old, he works just as hard as he did in his youth. His dedication towards work and family is something that astonishes me. He’s such a perfectionist that it sets a great example for everyone in my family.

How is your relationship with him?

He is my friend and my father at the same time because he is a great listener and takes immense joy in spending time with all of us. He has such a strong sense of individuality, which is why I am so proud of him.

What are some instances where he has made you proud?

My grandparents have always been busy and on the go, so he had to take things into his hands from an early age. Therefore, he has always been the backbone of my family. When things were not going his way, he stood up and took a very tough decision. He made the decision to open his own clothing store when he was thirty years old. Even though it was a risky choice and his entire family judged him for it, today he stands tall with pride.

What are some learning takeaways from the situation?

But because of his courage and firmness, he has been able to build a successful business, and I really look up to him. Every day, I have to remind myself to strive to be as resilient as my father is a true “hero.”
