Veterans BEWARE. Everyone you speak to in order to begin/finish your degree journey is amazing...until it comes to the "Military Support". It seems no one in any other department has any idea what goes on there and there is no oversight or management to speak to. Send an email or leave a message and pray someone gets back to you. Think of this department the same way you think of "Military Intelligence" when you are active duty. Thanks to the lack of communication, constantly moving the completed task bar and general dismissive attitude of the staff you will not get certified on time and there will be a consistent balance on your student account. As WE know...this means you don't get paid. I've been at this process for nearly a year now and I can honestly say I sadly regret my decision to move forward and now the pain of shifting to another school is nearly impossible..

Communication is unclear (sometimes wildly unprofessional), no one communicates with each other, course instructors are more like help assistants (some are great and some are not great), and I feel like it’s way overpriced. I’m probably just going to finish my degree and move on, but multiple people I know of have had the same issues with WGU.

My first semester at WGU was amazing. The second however, after my mentor was switched, was not. My mentor failed to check in often and was wildly unhelpful with any questions I had. I also have had troubles taking Objective Assessments even after my laptop meets all of the requirements. I have wasted multiple hours trying to take an assessment just to be disconnected. I had tried on multiple different internets, different laptops, and at different times, all for the same issue to occur and not being able to complete the assessment, one that I had tried taking before and ended up failing the class due to not being able to take the assessment because of this issue. I wouldn't recommend WGU to anyone specifically because of the issues with Objective Assessments.

I've had a great experience at WGU, and all of the IT certs I got in the BSIT program got me higher pay at the job I just got. I'm going into the MSITM shortly, and I would highly recommend this school. Your mentor highly affects your experience at this school, ensure that you communicate with them well, and do not feel uncomfortable to request another if it isn't working out. I had a great mentor and I feel like he was a major part in how well my experience went.

Veteran Here! I am honestly shocked at the various negative reviews that I am seeing. I can say that my experience has been nothing but amazing with WGU. I've been with them for a couple years now (aiming to graduate in December 2025). The military support has always responded to me promptly and all of my documents process without issue. Communication has been amazing from my mentor. He is always punctual and available to help me with anything I need. I truly have no complaints and would (and do!) recommend this University to others. The ONLY complaint I have had is about the online proctored exams. There were several times in the recent past where I couldn't get connected with a proctor, or it took a long time and multiple tries. HOWEVER, it seems that they've heard the complaints and contracted a new company to proctor the exams. Since then I haven't had any issues at all with the exams. WGU is a great option and I would absolutely choose them again!
