I've been enrolled at Walden University for 14 months now. I am working towards my bachelor's in social work. I have taken 2 classes per term, each were very intelligent, understanding and helpful when I had a situation arise with submitting, using the Kaltura program, or needing an emergency extension. My counselor has been very speedy in responding to my messages via text an email. The only thing I feel is unfortunate is that the intake worker had explained to me that given my transferred credits that applied here, I would be completing work for my degree by Spring 2025, however, when looking over my planned future classes I realized there was no field work classes scheduled. Apparently, I have 5 additional required classes that include lab skills and 400 hrs of field work, in order to get my degree. I think it could've been better explained to me, since now I know thanks to my counselor, that I could've taken more than 2 classes per term as long as my financial aid covered it and I could handle the workload. It's ok though. My counselor and I have discussed this, he provided all contact information for resources and step by step instructions as feel as what questions to ask and in what order when talking to financial aid. It is very odd that it seems we are teaching ourselves with these online classes due to the fact there are no zoom classes on a weekly basis, but I find it more helpful because doing the research has helped me really focus on the specifics of my line of work and learn by that. Only 1 or 2 instructors I feel lacked the ability to provide personalized feedback or was extremely difficult to contact in an emergency situation. Overall, I do recommend this college for Social Work, just be prepared to be responsible and communicate with all needed resources when deemed appropriate.

the worst university to study, the do not answer your worries and student affairs department is intimidating students with letters and interviews, when you need to work on your assignments the pause you even when you paid and when you need to call the transfer you endlessly from one office to another. I am regretting my decision.

Walden will make you repeat a class over and over again. They do this for your money and it’s only done to those of us that are highly Melanin-ated. I have noticed this in every class I have taken. I am still waiting for them to give me my masters degree. The GPA says you can get a Masters degree with a B, they insist that I have an A and they made me take two classes One was unnecessary and I have a B. I also took a class at Yale which I have an A in, which is transferable and I still do not have my degree. Where is it walden university -which has blocked my email and phone numbers. I feel this is the only way I will be heard. I started my classes in January 2024. I submitted my financial aid application and was awarded funding for the 2023–2024 school year, and again for the 2024–2025 school year. I submitted my application once more, as I have in the past, for the 2025–2026 school year. However, this time, I was only awarded the Pell Grant—which has never happened before. I have been calling and trying to resolve this issue for two months. Each time, I’ve been told it would be resolved, but nothing has changed. I have now missed the deadline to drop the class I’m currently enrolled in and have been charged $1,634. There is also a hold on my account. Every time I call, I’m told an escalation ticket has been submitted, a supervisor call has been requested, or that the issue is being worked on and additional funding will be released. And yet, this is still an ongoing issue. When I follow up after the three business days I’m told to wait, I’m informed that the escalation hasn’t been resolved—or worse, that someone closed it with no additional notes. I am extremely frustrated. I just want someone—preferably a supervisor—to call me directly and help resolve this issue once and for all.

When I say this has been the worst experience I have ever had, that would be an understatement. From day one I have nothing but trouble from the financial aid department. First, I was told I couldn't use financial aid due to me attending another school, but here is the thing I NEVER EVER ATTENDED THAT SCHOOL that Walden said I did. They had me mixed up with someone else. Next, it took them three weeks to get my account together. I was even told that I would be dropped from classes, and the financial part wasn't even my fault. No one could solve my problems and all everyone would say is "someone will get back with you within 3 to 5 business days". And well that never came. Tried talking to advisors and they didn't know anything either. I would just find myself going in circles. Now I'm at the point of trying to withdraw and I am getting the run around because no one seems to know the withdrawal process. If you don't want to ruin your day do not contact the financial aid, advisor, or any department at Walden. You will be better off googling your information. If I could give this place a -0 I would. Moral of the story, unless you want to be mad all the time, DO NOT ATTEND HERE!!!
