If you have an option to go somewhere else, absolutely do not go here. I withdrew my enrollment a few weeks into the semester and they still charged me over $12,000 for classes I never attended. Sent me to collections and they refuse to send me the itemized bill so I don’t even know what I’m being charged for. Karie in the financial aid office is extremely rude, unprofessional and unhelpful. Every email I received from her is passive aggressive. Their staff is terrible and I would 100% never recommend this place to anyone.

I just do not like the way this school is ran. Some might but when you have to reach out via email to get ahold of almost everything it’s becomes way to stressful. Then I go to campus and am completely lost and you ask the people that work their where something is and they send you in completely different directions, to buildings that are being renovated and are just unwilling to either show you or find out for sure from someone else. I’m a new mom, trying to finish her degree, in a new state with no support. I don’t get the support from this college either especially with me being a new transfer. Not to mention I got charged a $400 fee for a class i passed and payed the full semester up front but have a hold cuz I magically have a fee out of no where that they can’t tell me exactly why I’m being charged. I’m transferring come spring because this is crazy.

This school is absolutely beautiful and amazing in so many ways. Every person there always has a smile and is such a breath of fresh air. I love SOU!

It is profoundly disappointing and unacceptable how Southern Oregon charges t. exploits its students through unjust and predatory financial practices. The school's blatant disregard for fairness in charging excessive, hidden, or unreasonable fees is nothing short of institutionalized greed. I made the mistake of enrolling in classes that I was advised by a staff member from Southern Oregon University would not count toward my Master's Degree. I made several attempts and sent multiple letters pleading to the upper staff at Southern Oregon University to expunge $9,000 in tuition for classes I did not ever attend. The greedy board, of course, denied me. I am thankful that I received my bachelor's, but I would not advise anyone to attend a school as greedy and unforgivable as SOU.

I graduated with my B.S in Psychology in 2022 from SOU. I transferred to this university in 2019 and it was the best decision I made. I felt very comfortable here and made a lot of great connections. I had multiple jobs on campus during the majority of my time at this institution. I was able to experience a variety of different things because I was involved in multiple extra curricular activities. Some of these include: McNair Scholars, TRIO-SSS,and ASSOU among others. I was able to live in Mcloughlin and experience living in the residence halls. I loved that Mcloughlin had a full size bed, a nice closet with mirrors, a full size refrigerator, and a decent sized kitchenette/living area. Although this university is smaller than other Oregon universities, I will say that it should not be underestimated. Everyone here treats each other like family and it’s nice when you see someone you know around campus. The campus also looks very beautiful during the different seasons and is nice to walk around during down time.
