SFU has a lot of great qualities, but somehow they always manage to sour the experience. It honestly feels like they’re trying to squeeze every last dollar out of you. I had my graduation ceremony here a couple of weeks ago. You have to pay to attend, pay to rent regalia (which probably costs a fraction of what they charge), and now they’re asking $100 for a single digital photo. It’s a terrible way to say goodbye to students. Instead of feeling like part of a community, you end up feeling like just another transaction to a massive corporate machine.

I taught some English classes here after teaching in UBC. The staff and teachers are friendly and professional. The buildings have an interesting gray design. Sometimes you need to walk for 10 minutes to get to your class. It has less greenery and fewer trees than UBC but once you’re inside, it feels good.

It is a HUGE campus, which was a lot to get around, especially since it is ALL concrete... super hard on the feet! It would've been nice to see more green spaces in all that cold concrete. There were a lot of places to sit and do work or rest too, which was nice.

Simon Fraser University stands out for its peaceful ambiance and immaculate surroundings. The quiet atmosphere makes it an ideal place for focused study or serene walks around campus. The cleanliness is commendable, creating a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors alike. A truly well-maintained and tranquil space for learning and exploration

One of the greenest campuses I’ve seen. Perched on a hill and ringed by parks, it spreads across acres of lawns, modern buildings, and quiet walking paths. Study rooms are easy to find, the library is bright and airy with lots of open workspaces, and you’re never far from a local café or shop just off campus. Staff are genuinely friendly and happy to help visitors get oriented. My only wish is for clearer way-finding signs for first-timers, but overall it’s a stellar place to study, stroll, and recharge.
