As an international student, I had the privilege of graduating from Cape Breton University (CBU) in May 2024. My time at CBU was transformative, as the university played a pivotal role in shaping my career and personal growth. I am deeply grateful to my professors, whose guidance and expertise were instrumental in my academic journey. One of the most memorable experiences during my time at CBU was working part-time at the university library. Those days were truly special, filled with learning, camaraderie, and collaboration with extraordinary coworkers and supportive managers. It was a period of growth, both professionally and personally, and one that I will always cherish. I wholeheartedly recommend Cape Breton University to anyone seeking a world-class education in a supportive and enriching environment.

My experience so far at CBU has been very rewarding and I feel like it's setting me up well for my future. I love the small class sizes and the opportunities for research, and there's a lot of people here who really seem to want to see you succeed. Even more, I get to conduct my studies on the beautiful island of Cape Breton!

From starting my journey at CBU as a student to now being part of its staff, I can confidently say that this university is truly one of a kind! The professors genuinely care about their students' success, providing guidance and support every step of the way. The staff is equally welcoming, always ready to offer a helping hand and create a positive, supportive environment for Students. Beyond the classroom, CBU fosters a strong sense of community, where students are encouraged to grow both academically and professionally. The campus is located in a very tight knit community, which makes the atmosphere warm and inviting, making it easy to connect with peers, faculty, and staff who all share the same goal of helping each other succeed. I am grateful for the opportunities I’ve had here, and I look forward to continuing to contribute to the university that has given me so much. You will not be disappointed with your experience here!

My experience at Cape Breton University was amazing! I remembered when I stepped into the university for the first time, watching people interact with each other, and how others were going about their day. I remembered being lost multiple times, trying to find my way to class, getting my school ID card. Meeting with my colleagues and professors. Wondering how I’ll ever get to settle in quickly. CBU had their challenges on housing plus a hurricane just hit the area, so it was tough both on the school and the local community. It was a scary time for me because I had to secure a place to stay. Campus accommodation was filled up plus the natural disaster that just hit the place. The community wasn’t ready to take on international students. Among all the frustration from students, CBU tried their best to make as much provisions as they could. It took me a few months to finally begin to settle in but after that, it was fine. I enjoyed my lectures with my professors. During my free hours, I would explore the campus. It is a beautiful school. I love the flag area. I always enjoy playing soccer, basketball and pickleball. There were lots of programs to help support students mental health which I find amazing. We had the Nancy Dingwall medical center where you can easily go for medical concerns. My biggest highlight was how my professors delivered their courses. They prepare you for the real world in the Canadian economy. I’m proud and honored to be a part of CBU, and the school will always have a special place in my heart.
