The University of Cambridge and India have a history filled with strong connections. St John’s College, which is one of the biggest colleges in Cambridge, has had especially long relationships over many years. Dr Manmonhan Singh, who was once India's Prime Minister, graduated from St John's College and he is an Honorary Fellow there too. In recognition of his major role in making India a strong global economy, St John’s College has started the Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship will give opportunities to gifted Indian students for studying for a PhD degree at St. John’s College, University of Cambridge.

- The Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarship Committee ultimately selects candidates based on their merits and alignment with the program's objectives.

- Selected candidates are informed of their acceptance and given additional directives for accepting the scholarship opportunity.
