Legal Studies is a broad field that covers everything related to law, including methods, theories and principles of legal systems. Legal Studies seeks answers to questions such as: what is justice and how can we improve it through the use of well-thought-out laws and good legal principles? And how does the law interact with other aspects of society such as politics, economics and society?
Scope & Opportunities
Legal Studies provides a general understanding of legal systems, how processes are made and which stakeholders are important in the legal process. They include ideas from subjects including Political Science, Economics, History, Social Sciences, International Relations and Philosophy. Law students learn how to deal with important issues such as the relationship between citizens and the state, corporations and governments, individual freedom and privacy, social equality, or justice in the distribution of resources.
The courses are divided into main courses such as Business Law, Environmental Law, Government and Law, Legal Theory, International Law or Criminal Justice.
Legal Studies train professionals who can apply knowledge of legal principles, and have skills such as: language and communication skills, analytical thinking, critical thinking and respect for ethics. Externship group legal research and community development.
Legal studies provide the foundation for graduate work in the administration of justice, business, legal studies, and law as well as work in law-related fields such as insurance, public safety, and public services.
