Information Technology
Specialization
BTech courses are the most sought-after UG engineering degrees, providing a gateway to diverse and rewarding career opportunities in the ever-changing technological landscape. In India, there are more than 4,500 higher technical colleges. Of these, about 3,601 colleges are owned by private individuals, 707 colleges are owned by government/government organisations, and the remaining 53 are owned by private companies.
Scope & Opportunities
BTech courses cover a wide range of technical careers, from traditional fields such as BTech in Computer Science, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering to emerging fields such as AI & ML and Robotics. Today, BTech courses increasingly incorporate AI, machine learning, and other advanced technologies into their curriculum, preparing graduates for a growing job market. In addition, students can now pursue BTech courses in emerging fields, such as BTech in AI and BTech in CSE. Additionally, BTech courses in India have had a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of around 5% over the past few years. Many BTech colleges are accredited by the National Accreditation Board (NBA), ensuring high-quality curriculum and academic standards.
The most common admission exams for BTech entrance are JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Along with the national level entrance exams, there are several state and private entrance exams that students can attempt for admission to the course. The basic eligibility requirements for BTech are Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. However, there are additional requirements for all entrance exams and institutions. Some institutes also conduct fairs for their 12th-class board exams. Famous BTech institutes such as Indian Institutes of Technology (top IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (top NITs) are part of the engineering curriculum. India attracts brilliant minds with its rigorous academic programs and industry-related education.
