Geological Engineering
Specialization
As a master's student in geological engineering, you will collaborate with faculty mentors to address challenges related to using Earth's resources while protecting the environment. In your research, you will use methods from geology and several engineering disciplines. You will also address engineering problems in which the geologic nature of a site or geologic processes are primary design objectives or constraints.
Scope & Opportunities
The MEng program is a course-based Master's program designed to provide students with a professional development experience that introduces them to new tools in Geological Engineering. The program focuses on the need to recognise and manage geological variability, uncertainty, and geo-risk in engineering design. It is entirely course-based, though students must write a graduation paper.

Eligibility Requirement for Masters In Geological Engineering
|
Eligibility Requirement |
Details |
|
Minimum Score |
Varies by university. Typically, universities may have specific GPA requirements that candidates need to meet. |
|
Educational Qualifications |
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field, such as Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, or Civil Engineering. The degree should be from a recognised institution and include coursework relevant to geological or earth sciences. |
|
Standardised Tests |
Some universities require scores for standardised tests such as the GRE (Graduate Record Examination). Additionally, international students are usually required to demonstrate proficiency in English through tests like TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System). |
|
Language Proficiency Test |
Proficiency in English is crucial. Universities typically accept scores from TOEFL or IELTS as proof of English proficiency. Minimum score requirements vary. |
|
Immigration Requirements |
International students usually need to apply for a student visa. Requirements vary by country and may include proof of admission, financial stability, and medical insurance coverage. |
|
Work Experience |
While optional, relevant professional experience in geological engineering or related fields can strengthen an application. It demonstrates practical knowledge and enhances understanding of industry practices. |
