When I was in school, we used to go for school trips to different places, during our school trip we once went to a nearby village for our school trip beautiful hills and greenery surrounded by this adorable village. As we all were from the city we were amazed by the natural beauty of this village. We all enjoyed that trip and we still remember that trip after so many years.

Where is it? And when did you visit this place?

Sabbavaram is a village situated near the city of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. I visited the village during my school trip when I was in class 8th. The village has changed a lot now, it has a lot of shops and stores which were not there when we visited the village around 7 years ago, but it is still green and clean.

What did you do there?

So as it was our school trip we went to the village where we explored a lot of sightseeing places, we went to a reservoir which was Meghadri Gedda Reservoir, it was a very large reservoir, and it provided water supply not only to Sabbavaram village but to many other nearby villages, the reservoir was also equipped with a solar panel which provided clean and green energy to the villages moreover the sunrise view and sunset view was very famous but we couldn’t get a chance as we went during the time, we also visited Kondan Kala Lake, which was also situated near the village, that lake was famous for lotus flowers there were plenty of flowers and we had a chance to take a ride on a row boat, the village had small shops that served tasty local food that is Dosa, Vada, Idly.

I have encountered the culture of keeping chickens as pets for the first time here. When I asked a resident about it, they mentioned that these chickens are used for cockfights during a particular season.

Explain why you think it was enjoyable.

According to me, it was very enjoyable as I am fond of nature, I love very clean places and green, the village was full of different kinds of trees, and the ones that I could recognize were coconut trees. The food which we had was fresh and very tasty as they were making it traditionally.

Amunpur: Describe a Place In A Village That You Visited

Introduction:

Recently our family decided to visit our ancestral village which was located near Karnal City, So this was the village where our grandparents lived for some time before moving to Delhi. We used to travel to nearby places via car as an outing on weekends when everyone was free at home, we used to travel and eat at Dhabas which were on the way.

Where is it? And when did you visit this place?

The name of our village is Amunpur which is very near to Karnal, Haryana. I have recently visited the village with my mom, Dad, brother and cousins. We went to our village during the Makar Sankranti holiday in winter.

What did you do there?

So basically this time my family planned to go out to our village where we had our ancestral property. The village is quite small and every other individual knows each other. As it was winter we saw a lot of fog there, during the daytime we used to go to farms where many varieties of crops were grown, like wheat, barley, potato, mustard, chickpea, and sunflower. I loved sitting in the mustard farm as it was all yellow there and I loved the smell of the farm. We had dogs there in our house so I used to play with them one was Shadow ( Labrador) and the other one was Euro ( Rottweiler). During nighttime time we used to light up bonfires which helped us fight the cold as it was very cold during night time, somedays we cooked food on bonfires, and we had Bajra Roti with delicious jaggery.

My main activity was drawing water from a well, at our home we had a small well from which I used to draw water as a fun activity, the well was built around 80 years ago and it was 30 feet Deep.

Explain why you think it was enjoyable.

It was fun for me to visit my home village for the first time in my 17 years, I had never thought that village life could be this fun, we had good family time, and I also met a lot of relatives who were daughters and children of my grandfather's friends, I loved drawing water from the village and the homemade desi ghee.

Chitkul: Describe a Place In A Village That You Visited

Introduction:

So recently I went to a very beautiful village, which I guess is among one of the most beautiful villages in India, Unplanned journeys are always the best way I feel, looking back at the days spent in Nako. I was on a month-long solo trip to Himachal a few weeks back. And I was traversing through the world’s most treacherous roads of Kinnaur.

Where is it? And when did you visit this place?

Leaving Chitkul- the last inhabited village on the Indo-China border, I decided to move ahead on my way to the magnificent Spiti Valley. It was my last night in Chitkul when things turned around and I along with a few new friends decided to visit the village of Nako. I was not aware of the village till then, but I was sure, something special was waiting. It is a small village situated in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh in north India, Nako is one of the beauty treasures of Himachal Pradesh untouched by travelers. The village is known for its location in Hangrang Valley at the Tibet border, beautiful Nako Lake, and monasteries.

What did you do there?

So on the first day, I did a Trek for 3 – 4 hours to the Tashigang village perched high above the Sutlej river below and was rewarded with unforgettable views. Sheep will be your occasional friends. On the second day, I took in Ladakhi life and explored the village’s stone houses, monasteries, and fields. On the 3rd day I Visited Tabo 70 km away, a UNESCO heritage site with a monastery built in the 9th century AD. Another curious village to see is Kibber, the highest village in the world, with an interesting monastery and sanctuary.

The village is very beautiful but the place that I loved the most and I will suggest to every traveler to Nako is the ancient monastery located in the middle of the village founded by Ringchen Zangpo in 996 AD. It is famous for its sculptures, murals, artworks, and scripture. Lotsawa Lhakhang (Translator’s Temple) is the largest part of the monasteries. The chortens, jhunkhang (community kitchen), and temples are worth visiting. Buddhist culture dominates the village. The food and clothing are very similar to the Tibetans. The small temple complex which is a recent addition to the monastery is used for educational purposes.

Explain why you think it was enjoyable.

I loved the ride and trail part of my trip to this village, we left Chitkul heavy-heartedly and started

our journey to Nako. A few hours into the journey, the whole landscape changed. It felt like coming to another world. The lush green landscapes were now replaced by the tallest mountains I had ever seen. Also, the roads were no longer the usual ones. Entering Hangrang Valley feels like riding the mountains.
