The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) of the UK government runs the Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS). Under the system, international students studying for a Masters-level programme or higher in certain sensitive topic fields (including undergraduate Masters Degrees) must ask for government approval before they can enrol in study programme in UK.
