How International Students Can Apply to Canadian Universities Independently

Applying to Canadian universities can seem daunting, but international students can navigate the process smoothly with some guidance.

Use websites like university ranking sites, individual Canadian university sites, and Government of Canada sites to thoroughly research schools and programs that interest you. Compare factors like rankings on Maclean's and Times Higher Education.

Research Universities  and Programs

Register for and prepare for tests like IELTS through ielts.org. For excellent guidance, contact Admissify’s British Council-certified faculty for a crash course.

Take Required Tests

Request official transcripts and diplomas from previous schools. Ask teachers and mentors for recommendation letters. Have English test scores sent directly to the universities you're applying to. Prepare writing samples and other materials required for your programs.

Gather Documents

Submit applications through university portal websites, like the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) for Ontario schools. Input info, add supporting documents, pay fees, and submit applications here.

Submit Online Application

Wait for the institution to send you an offer letter. Remember, international students are supposed to pay the tuition fee for the first year and the GIC amount to confirm admission.

Acceptance Letter and  Finances

After acceptance, apply for your Study Permit through the Canadian government's Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada website. Carefully prepare the required financial, academic and departure documents.

Apply for Student Visa
